Introduction of Popular Science Education Base

   Guangzhou Agricultural Science Research Institute has established in 1960. It is the only agricultural institute directly under the Guangzhou Municipal Government.
It has successively completed “The national corps variety region testing station”, “
The Ministry of Agriculture, Guangzhou vegetables improved seed introduction base ”as well as " Guangzhou Agricultural Science Research Institute Vegetable Synthesis Testing Station ".

   Our institute is located in the south shore of Zhujiang with beautiful scenery, covers with 583mu of total area, east near the Chinese Guangzhou international conference exhibition center. It is situated at B entrance ,Modiesa stopping place of the No.2 subway. In the institute, there is full with modern agricultural atmosphere and rurality, outside institute, there are more than 2000 mu of demonstration and production base. We have the advance scientific research equipment including advanced lab instrumentation with value of more than 8000000 Yuan, 400 greenhouses and big sheds with 80000 square meters of area, 500000 square meters of Havelock netting, 4 cold storages for agricultural product and seed storing with 639 cubic meters of total volume and 600 cubic meters of cold storages for idioplasm resources and mother culture. There are 127 staff members, among which 70 people are specialized technical personnel, 56 people have the high-level title(researcher 4 person, high-level title 33 person, intermediate title 19 people).

   Our institute is mainly engaged in selected breeding and introducing of vegetabe, fresh corns and paddy, research and demonstration of related technology, preservation and development of idioplasm resources of corps, research of testing of seed purity,research and development of agricultural biotechnology, Analyse Biochemistry of crop, quality analyse of agricultural product and supervising of agricultural environment, training and consultation service of agricultural technology, Popular Science Education of the young people and agro-touring .

   Over the years, under the superiors’ guidances and supports, making using of our advantages of scientific research and circumstance, we exploided and constructed a science popular base mainly concerning agriculture science and technology, we have gained National Agriculture Science Popular Demonstration Base title, Guangdong Province Callan Sci-Tech Education Base title, Guangzhou City Sci-Tech Popular Base title, Guangzhou City Callan Sci-Tech Education Base title, Haizhu District Science Popular Base title and other titles. After 1997, We have received 700,000 person-time for visiting, learning, science popular education, at the same time, we gained National Agriculture Science Popular Demonstration Advanced Collectivity title and Guangzhou City Agriculture Science Popular Demonstration Advanced Collectivity title. We keep ahead of homogeneous bases, with great effects on society, we contributed to function in demonstration and impetus for development of agricultural industry in Guangzhou city and South China.
